Fear and anxiety about data, both internally oriented, and externally oriented, deter some potentially key partners from participating in evaluation and other data-related efforts. Our work with nonprofit and government organizations has afforded us the opportunity to encounter, understand, and categorize these fears, and to identify actions that data leaders can take in order to alleviate the anxiety so that more community members, and other potential partners, are willing to actively participate in data related efforts.
In this workshop participants learned about the different types of anxiety we have identified, how our data-centric community amplifies the anxiety, and how they can address the anxiety using fairly simple and straightforward techniques.
